We are proud to announce that TotalSim US have been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I project through AFWERX and AFRL with the Department of Defense. The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. The Phase I project will be used for continued DoD/Air Force customer discovery and to modify our TS Results app to demonstrate how it can fit the requirements of the Air Force specifically and DoD and other government agencies more broadly.

TS Results is a solver-agnostic, web-based SDM tool in which output data collected from most CFD solvers can be put into a standardized format. TS Results accelerates the design cycle by publishing CFD results, desired images, movies and plots in one place for quick and easy comparison, giving you more time to analyze results and refine designs and less time on collating and plotting data.

One of the many benefits of TS Results is that it allows multiple agencies or departments to share results, which enhances stakeholder collaboration and more timely analysis, increasing overall throughput and deriving more from existing data. Standardization and repeatability of post processing, comparison and reporting, provides an archival, longitudinal view of comparative results over the long-term.

We initially developed TS Results in-house to make ourselves more efficient in improving design for clients. Since then Aerospace and Automotive companies, academic teams and startups in the Boeing-sponsored GoFly competition have used TS Results to evaluate their own design projects. Our goal is to develop our existing TS Results software into a broader solver-agnostic commercial product by adding support for a wider range of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Simulation solvers and disciplines.

We are grateful to our first stakeholders at the AFLCMC and AFRL, located at Wright Patterson AFB, who are providing sample cases and feedback in Phase I. We will work with these Air Force researchers utilizing a version of TS Results and use their feedback to inform enhancements to both commercial and defense applications. The objective is to establish technical merit and feasibility with the potential of being awarded Phase 2 to continue the R/R&D efforts initiated in Phase I.

More about the AFWERX Special topics awards can be found here. AFRL and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research process in an attempt to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants and decrease bureaucratic overhead.
